We are a non-profit organisation based in the European Union and we develop programmes worldwide, that promotes literacy in the areas of health, especially public health and mental health literacy.
Since 2007, we have been involved in projects that work on improving the general population’s health knowledge, projects that require a high investment in awareness and education. This investment will be difficult for any state to support if this effort does not become everyone’s responsibility.
The engagement of citizens in health promotion as co-responsible for their well-being, by providing them with health education, and enabling them to play an active role in improving their health is an essential step toward the social development of any country. This involvement makes it possible to socially influence and mobilise the community to increase awareness of the need for personal and collective intervention in promoting well-being and the promotion of better health literacy.
Health promotion is the process of empowering people to autonomously make decisions that result in the improvement of their health and life. With an innovative perspective, which focuses on empowering citizens as agents of change, the Institute aims to use the enormous potential of peer education to significantly contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens.
Our challenge is to achieve health promotion through:
- a change in the way the general population thinks about the role of each individual in promoting a better quality of life;
- the empowerment of the population to take the lead in changing lifestyles and adopting healthier habits;
- the promotion of a better quality of life through collective action.
Together, we work to reduce disparities and promote health equity through better access to health information to change patterns and lead citizens to a more appropriate lifestyle.
